Future Double Page Spread Layouts
Template 1
Template 1: These all have their purposes and the majority of them are critical to have on a double page spread, those that are have been highlighted. As you can probably notice I have not spread my image across two pages. I have thought ahead here as the crease in the page once folded it can make the picture and text look unattractive due to it being hard to read and no one wants to see a crease down the middle of their face as it is unattractive. Moving on, I have the subject name across the main image which makes the artists name stands out, this is good because you can see both the image and the artists name all at once to refer in your mind who you are going to be reading about, also flicking through the magazine it will catch your eye and if you a big fan of the artist you will more than likely remember I have positioned each feature for a reason. |
Template 2
Template 2: This is my second template on how I may layout my double page spread. In this, such as template two, I have included all key techniques/devices whilst comparing to already existing music double page spreads such as "Vibe" "XXL" and "Source". I had really seen a good technique used in on if the magazines, it showed the first letter of the artists name over the main article which was a fresh idea which stood out and that is exactly how i want my rap magazine to do... stand out! I also have the main picture to the left of the article. This is because people read from left to right and positioning the main image there will benefit the reader as you can always reefer to the main image out of the corner of your eye. |
Template 3
Template 3: In this template, which is my third, I have separated the image over two pages which I believed was a good idea however I looking more into detail I can see that the image will looked stretched over the two pages and can make the image seem distorted as the crease in the page making it harder for my target audience to view. Also there are to many columns of such a small size to fill the double page spread there will not be enough detail to fill the page and will easily confuse the reader, that is something I do not want to do. |
